My name is Alisa and I love to paint! I'm a visual artist on a mission to discover and share with you other artists I've met along the way who are living a creative life full time, and how they did it. I also love to write about my own experiences building a business as a creative entrepreneur. Here we talk artists, artwork, business, and support. I love what I do, and I love to share it with you!

Wednesday Inspiration - 5 Artists Whose Work Inspires Me

I love finding inspiration by other artists whose work makes my mouth water.

The inspiration is used to encourage myself to show up and paint. Which is important if you're a painter...

Here are five artists that are inspiring me right now, and get me excited and motivated to hit the pigment!

Karla Dornacher

I just discovered Karla Dornacher - an amazing artist whose bright colors and subject matter for painting make me happy. Reading her story, she started painting after 40 and has become well known for her beautiful, inspiring work. I want to be like Karla when I grow up! This painting in particular - I could stare at it all day. The color combination, and the owl with polka dots - LOVE!

Christina Romeo

One of my favorite things to do is troll Etsy for artists. I have no criteria, just whatever paintings speak to me. This one by Christina Romero - gorgeous. I love her approach, the layering, technique, and the fairly limited, but bright color palette. It's a work of art, and I want to buy all her pieces. Just looking at this painting makes me want to run home, and grab some brushes!

Justin Vining

Justin Vining is an artist from Indiana. I remember my eyeballs popped out of my head when I stumbled on him last year. He has such style! And his perception of his surroundings is captured so poetically through choice of colorful expression. I can almost hear the crickets chirping, and a warm breeze blowing across the land. Such a gifted and talented artist, and definitely on of my inspirations.

Michelle Allen

Do you have a favorite artist (or writer, or whoever) who is your  hero? Michelle Allen is one of mine. I admire her work so much, and her unique style. I'd know a Michelle Allen creation anywhere. Her style speaks to my own, and I dream one day of having tons of her work and product all over my studio. I actually have two pieces of hers - one is a pencil holder that I ordered. The other is a clock that has coffee mugs stacked on it. I found this piece at my local Goodwill, and fell in love with it the moment my eyes saw it. Come to find out LONG after I admired Michelle's work that - it's a Michelle Allen piece! I love synchronicity. Rocks.

Jennifer Lambein

Who can resist a stack of coffee mug art? I can't! And who can resist browns, blues, checkers and polka dots? Uhm, I can't! Jennifer Lambein is another Etsy artist find, and this piece of hers is simply FaBUloUS. And I love the message! This piece is meant to live in a cafe', or a very bright kitchen where best friends gather to sip coffee and talk about life.

These are just five artists I admire out of a whole slue of them who keep me motivated to paint, and create beautiful pieces
from my heart.

Art is a beautiful thing.
